R.E.A.C.H. at Mineral Community Hospital
November 8, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Sophomores and juniors from Alberton, Superior and St. Regis High Schools that have an interest in the medical field are guests of Mineral Community Hospital for the day as they shadow different employees in different departments. This is a hands-on field trip where the students will actually suture chicken breasts, or have x-rays taken of their bones and examine them with the Imaging Department. In the Emergency Room, they will take the procedures our nurses and providers do when triaging a patient and the lab has them actually testing for blood types. Every year is different and the Mineral County Health Department joins us this year with honest-to-gosh pig lungs to show the harmful effects of smoking . MT West Dentist from Plains will be here again with a demonstration on making molds for teeth. The students make them from their own teeth!
REACH (Research and Explore Awesome Careers in Healthcare) Last year, over 300 Western Montana students attended REACH programs.
