Strong Communities Raise Strong Children – ST REGIS
March 14 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Todd Garrison, through the Child Wise Institute, will be conducting a presentation about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) for the community on Wednesday, March 14th at Saint Regis School from 5-8 p.m.. The presentation includes the ACE Study, brain research, cost consequences of not preventing ACEs, and how families and communities can build resilience factors to prevent ACEs. The event will be free and open to the public. There will be a meal provided and childcare is available.
There will also be a showing of the video “Paper Tigers” documented by director James Redford, which depicts Lincoln High School in Walla Walla, Washington, as an ACEs informed and alternative education experience for students that need a more trauma informed school environment. St. Regis School District will be developing professional development for its staff to implement trauma informed practices at the school.
This presentation and video is important for parents, students, educators, healthcare providers, the courts, social service agencies, government, and communities to understand how ACEs impact learning, mental and physical health, relationships, and connection within the environment.
